A 50/50 joint venture between Allseas and Boskalis has been awarded a significant contract by CPC Corporation Taiwan for the development of the second offshore natural gas pipeline between Yongan and Tongxiao (YT2). Valued at approximately EUR 1.2 billion, this flagship project is set to strengthen northern Taiwan’s gas supply and support the country’s broader energy transition goals.
Under the terms of the contract, the consortium will design, construct, install, and pre-commission a new 36-inch, 232-kilometre offshore gas pipeline, running parallel to the existing YT1 line. The YT2 pipeline will link the Yongan LNG terminal in the southwest to the Tongxiao transfer station in the northwest, featuring 34 crossings over current and planned infrastructure, trenching, backfilling, and two landfalls.
Allseas will be responsible for the offshore pipeline installation and pre-commissioning, including pre-lay works with concrete mattresses. The company will deploy two of its most advanced pipelay vessels for this complex operation.
Boskalis will handle the landfall operations and microtunneling, along with trenching, backfilling, and subsea rock installation for the pipeline crossings. The company will mobilize a suite of specialized assets, including two large hopper dredgers, a backhoe dredger, and a subsea rock installation vessel.
This high-impact project highlights both companies’ leadership in offshore energy infrastructure and their shared commitment to enabling secure and sustainable energy solutions. Delivered in close collaboration with CPC Corporation Taiwan, the YT2 pipeline will enhance the reliability and resilience of the region’s natural gas network.
Construction is set to begin in 2026, with project completion expected by 2028.
