Chiyoda Corporation has announced that it has been awarded the Front End Engineering Design (FEED) contract for a CO2 separation and capture facility in Tomakomai by Idemitsu Kosan Co.,Ltd (Idemitsu Kosan).
The FEED is part of the engineering design for a Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) project, a Public Solicitation by Japan Organization for Metals and Energy Security (JOGMEC), encompassing a Request for Proposal on the ‘Engineering Design Work for Advanced CCS Projects’ in fiscal year 2024 entrusted to Idemitsu Kosan, Japan Petroleum Exploration Co., Ltd .(JAPEX) and Hokkaido Electric Power Co., Inc. (HEPCO) (Three Companies). Chiyoda was awarded the FEED contract by Idemitsu Kosan.
The Three Companies aim to launch a CCS project by 2030, while examining a CO2 separation & capture and transport & storage value chain as part of “basic engineering design for a CCS value chain” in the Tomakomai area. Chiyoda is actively supporting the implementation of the CCS project by conducting the FEED for the new facility to separate and capture CO2 at the Hokkaido Refinery (an emission source), and revamp existing facilities.
As an integrated engineering company, Chiyoda is engaged in CCS projects and the development of technologies to realize a carbon neutral society around the world, and will continue contributing to the development of a sustainable society in line with our mission of “Energy and Environment in Harmony”.
