Doosan Enerbility has announced that it has signed a contract with a consortium comprising Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) and Saudi Aramco for the Saudi Arabia Jafurah Cogeneration Power Plant Phase 2 project. As the project developer, KEPCO will oversee the development and operation of the facility, while Doosan Enerbility, serving as the EPC contractor, will be responsible for the complete scope of engineering, procurement, construction, equipment supply, installation, and commissioning.
The Jafurah Cogeneration Power Plant Phase 2 project will be developed near the Jafurah Gas Field, located approximately 400 km east of Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Scheduled for completion by 2029, the facility will have a power generation capacity of 330 MW and produce 465 tons of steam per hour, supplying both electricity and thermal energy to support operations at the nearby gas field. A key component of the project, the steam turbine, will be manufactured and supplied by Doosan Enerbility’s subsidiary, Doosan Skoda Power.
“It is truly meaningful to have won the contract for Phase 2, after winning the Phase 1 contract back in 2022,” said Hyeonho Lee, CEO of Doosan Enerbility’s Plant EPC Business Group. “As we expect to continuously see many more orders come in from the Middle East region, not to mention Saudi Arabia, for large-scale power plant projects, we plan to use our extensive technological expertise and experience to target the market even more effectively in the future.”
Doosan Enerbility has continued to strengthen its position in the Middle East through a series of major project awards. In the past year alone, the company secured several significant contracts, including a KRW 290 billion Peaking Unit Generation Plant project awarded by the Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation (QEWC), as well as the KRW 2.2 trillion Rumah-1 and Nairyah-1 combined-cycle gas-fired power plant projects and the KRW 890 billion Power Plant 12 (PP12) project in Saudi Arabia.
