Doosan Enerbility secured a gas power plant project worth 290 billion won in Qatar.
Doosan Enerbility said that it had signed an engineering procurement construction (EPC) contract for a peaking unit generation plant worth 290 billion won with Qatar Electricity and Water Company (QEWC).
This contract concerns a power plant located in the Ras Abu Fontas area, approximately 18 km southeast of Doha, the capital of Qatar, with Doosan Enerbility leading a consortium with China National Power Corporation Shandong Electric Power Construction Third Engineering Company (SEPCO-3) holding a 45% stake.
Doosan Enerbility will oversee the design (E) and major equipment procurement (P) for the 500-megawatt (MW) capacity power plant and will also be responsible for commissioning. The power plant is reported to consist of two F-class (250 MW) gas turbines, with the expected operational date set for January 2027.
Doosan Enerbility succeeded in localizing large gas turbines for power generation in 2019, supplying the first domestic gas turbine to the Gimpo cogeneration plant, and has since supplied major equipment such as gas turbines for numerous gas power projects both domestically and internationally. In March 2023, it secured contracts for 1.15 trillion won worth of 1000 MW combined cycle power plant construction in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, and followed up with a contract for a 500 MW steam turbine and generator supply, while also agreeing in March of last year to supply 1.5 trillion won worth of 650 MW steam turbines and generators to Saudi Arabia’s largest combined cycle power plant.
