KBR has secured a major contract from Basra Oil Company (BOC) to deliver Integrated Field Management Services (IFMS) for the Majnoon Oil Field in southern Iraq. Majnoon is among the largest oil fields globally, with estimated reserves exceeding 38 billion barrels, making it a critical asset in Iraq’s energy landscape.
Under the contract, KBR will provide end-to-end upstream support including engineering, project management, operations, and maintenance services aimed at enhancing crude production and modernizing field infrastructure. The scope also includes deployment of advanced digital and AI-driven technologies, along with subsurface drilling and reservoir engineering, to optimize performance and ensure efficient, safe, and sustainable field operations.
Jay Ibrahim, President of KBR Sustainable Technology Solutions, highlighted that the award reflects KBR’s strong technical expertise, extensive operational capabilities, and long-standing presence in Iraq. He emphasized that projects of this scale require experienced partners with proven execution capability, strong safety culture, and in-country expertise, and reaffirmed KBR’s commitment to supporting Iraq’s long-term energy development.
The project is expected to create substantial employment opportunities within Iraq, with an initial workforce of around 2,000 personnel. KBR will also focus on knowledge transfer, training, and strengthening local engineering capabilities, supported by both in-country teams and global engineering centers to ensure efficient execution and adoption of international best practices.
This award further reinforces KBR’s strategic role in Iraq’s energy sector, building on its longstanding contributions across major oil field operations, infrastructure planning, and initiatives to enhance energy efficiency and resource utilization, supporting the country’s economic and industrial growth.
