Abraj Energy Services has announced the signing of a major contract with Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) to supply six onshore drilling rigs. The agreement, valued at approximately OMR 215 million (US$559 million), marks a significant addition to the company’s project portfolio.
Mobilisation of the rigs will begin in phases starting from the fourth quarter of 2026, the company stated in a filing to the Muscat Stock Exchange. Each rig will operate under a firm six-year term.
The deal strengthens Abraj’s position as a key service provider in Oman’s upstream sector. It follows closely on the heels of another strategic move by the company — the signing of a term sheet with Algeria’s state-owned Sonatrach to establish a joint venture focused on integrated oilfield services, including drilling, workover, and well services.
