Technip Energies has secured a major contract from SkyNRG for the DSL-01 project, a new Sustainable Aviation Fuel production facility planned in Delfzijl, the Netherlands. The scope includes full Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Commissioning (EPCC) for what will be Europe’s first standalone greenfield SAF plant. The award follows the successful completion of the FEED phase and represents an important milestone in the long-standing partnership between the two companies.
The DSL-01 facility is designed to produce 100,000 tons of SAF annually using the HEFA pathway, converting sustainable waste feedstocks such as used cooking oil into aviation fuel. The project will feature an advanced feedstock pre-treatment unit along with an on-site hydrogen plant based on Technip Energies’ proprietary Steam Methane Reforming technology. This integrated configuration is expected to improve cost efficiency and reduce lifecycle emissions, supporting large-scale, competitive SAF production.
This marks Technip Energies’ sixth HEFA-based SAF project in Europe, further strengthening its role in expanding sustainable aviation fuel capacity across the region.
Sylvain Cabalery, Head of Commercial, Project Delivery & Services at Technip Energies, stated that the award highlights the company’s strong expertise in SAF project execution. He noted that the 100,000-ton-per-year capacity will significantly contribute to scaling SAF production in Europe and emphasized that Technip Energies has delivered more than 60% of the installed SAF production capacity globally, reinforcing its leadership in this strategic market.
Maarten van Dijk, CEO and Co-founder of SkyNRG, described the milestone as a defining step toward developing SkyNRG’s own SAF production capability. He added that partnering with Technip Energies as EPCC contractor enables the transition from years of development into the realization of a physical facility, supporting the decarbonization of aviation.
