thyssenkrupp Uhde has been appointed by Brunei Fertilizer Industries Sdn Bhd (BFI) to carry out the Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) for the expansion of its ammonia handling and export infrastructure. The project includes the design of a new cryogenic ammonia storage tank along with a dedicated export facility, featuring jetty integration and ship-loading systems to support large-scale global exports. The FEED will be executed through Uhde’s global engineering network, combining its uhde® ammonia technology with Uhde India’s expertise in cryogenic storage and ammonia logistics.

The scope of work covers the engineering of the cryogenic storage tank based on Uhde India’s proven standards, as well as the development of export infrastructure, including jetty interfaces, pipelines, and ship-loading arms. The project will also ensure seamless integration with BFI’s existing facilities, maintaining high standards of safety and operational reliability. This award further strengthens the long-standing partnership between thyssenkrupp Uhde and BFI, following Uhde’s earlier contribution to BFI’s world-class ammonia and urea complex in Southeast Asia.

Nadja Håkansson, Member of the Executive Board and COO of thyssenkrupp Decarbon Technologies as well as CEO of thyssenkrupp Uhde, expressed her appreciation for the continued collaboration, highlighting BFI as a key partner in Asia and emphasizing the company’s confidence in Uhde’s engineering capabilities. She noted that the project will support Brunei’s growing role in the global ammonia market and contribute to food security.
