VA TECH WABAG has been awarded a major contract to develop a 300 Million Litres per Day (MLD) Sea Water Reverse Osmosis (SWRO) desalination plant in Yanbu, located on the west coast of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Valued at approximately $272 million (~₹2,332 crore), the order comes from the Saudi Water Authority. The project includes the complete scope of design, engineering, supply, construction, and commissioning of the large-scale desalination facility on a greenfield site.
“We have received the Letter of Award, and the contracting formalities will commence now. The effective start date for project execution will be announced following the signing of the contract,” the company stated in a regulatory filing.
