Wood has secured a new $27 million engineering, procurement, construction, and installation (EPCI) contract from Equinor to execute critical infrastructure upgrades that will support the ongoing development of the Snorre field in the Norwegian North Sea.
Under this contract, Wood will deliver topsides modifications and control system enhancements on the Gullfaks A platform. These upgrades will facilitate gas import and export between the Snorre and Gullfaks fields through a newly established interconnecting pipeline. The work forms a key part of Equinor’s SNEIG project, underscoring the operator’s commitment to improving infrastructure efficiency and production flexibility across its North Sea portfolio.
The scope includes enabling gas import from Snorre, upgrading fiscal metering systems to ensure accurate measurement and accountability for both gas inflow and outflow, and integrating these improvements with existing production facilities. These enhancements aim to increase hydrocarbon production flexibility, optimise resource utilisation, and extend the long-term sustainability of field operations.
This award follows Wood’s successful completion of the project’s front-end engineering design (FEED) earlier this year, reinforcing the company’s position as a trusted partner for delivering complex offshore solutions.
Henrik Melsom, Senior Vice President of Operations, Norway at Wood, commented:
“The Snorre field remains a cornerstone of Norway’s energy sector, carrying both historical importance and future potential. This contract further strengthens our long-standing collaboration with Equinor and demonstrates Wood’s continued commitment to advancing energy solutions in the Norwegian North Sea.
By improving integration and fiscal measurement of gas exchange between the Snorre and Gullfaks fields, we are supporting Equinor’s operational goals while contributing to the continued resilience and innovation of Norway’s energy landscape. We are proud to help ensure the reliability and sustainability of these critical resources for years to come.”
Wood has been delivering maintenance, repair, and modification services on Equinor’s Snorre A and Snorre B platforms since 2016. This new contract will be executed by a team of more than 70 Wood employees, primarily based in Sandefjord, Norway.
