Worley has been awarded a five year Engineering, Procurement and Construction Management services contract by Energinet to support Phase 1 of the Danish Hydrogen Backbone pipeline.
The project forms a key part of Denmark’s plan to establish a national hydrogen transmission network. The pipeline will connect large scale green hydrogen production from wind and solar sources to Germany and broader European markets, reinforcing regional energy security and supporting the energy transition.
Under the agreement, Worley will provide EPCM services for approximately 41 km of new hydrogen pipeline and the conversion of about 89 km of existing natural gas pipeline, along with associated infrastructure to enable Denmark’s future hydrogen network.
Jan Narvestad, SVP Nordics, described the award as a significant step for the Nordic region and for Europe’s hydrogen ambitions, highlighting Worley’s role in delivering critical energy infrastructure.
The project will be managed from Denmark with support from Worley’s Nordic, UK and India teams, drawing on the company’s global expertise to contribute to the development of a low carbon energy system.
Commissioning of the Danish Hydrogen Backbone pipeline is currently targeted for late 2030.
