Worley has been selected by Ørsted to conduct a key feasibility study for the CO₂ Storage Kalundborg project, a major carbon capture and storage (CCS) initiative being developed with Equinor and Nordsøfonden.
The project aims to establish permanent onshore CO₂ storage near Kalundborg, Denmark. Worley’s scope includes the initial design of a 20+ km CO₂ pipeline and evaluating the integration of specialized CO₂ handling and treatment facilities.
Captured CO₂ from plants across the Baltic Sea region will be transported by sea and road to Kalundborg, with an import terminal at the Asnæs Power Station site. Ørsted will develop intermediate storage and shipping infrastructure there.
Given its location in a populated area, the project will follow the highest international safety standards. Technical risks will be thoroughly assessed and mitigated through robust design, ensuring maximum protection for both the environment and local communities.
Worley’s global team drawing expertise from Denmark, London, The Hague, and Mumbai will combine local knowledge with international engineering capabilities to deliver the study.
