KBR has announced that its joint venture with SOCAR, SOCAR-KBR LLC, has secured two new contracts from BP in Azerbaijan. The first contract supports the Sangachal Terminal Electrification (STEL) project, the country’s largest oil and gas reception terminal. The second is for the Shah Deniz Compression (SDC) gas field project.

Under these agreements, SOCAR-KBR will deliver detailed engineering design and procurement services for both initiatives. The joint venture previously completed the FEED phase for STEL and both pre-FEED and FEED phases for the SDC project. These new awards underscore BP’s continued trust in SOCAR-KBR’s execution capabilities.

“KBR has been providing large-scale energy solutions in the region for over 30 years, and these projects are pivotal in advancing Azerbaijan’s clean energy and energy security goals,” said Jay Ibrahim, President of KBR Sustainable Technology Solutions. “The Sangachal terminal, originally designed by KBR, is a key connection point between Azerbaijan and Europe. This upgrade will help integrate the terminal with the national power grid and reduce emissions. The Shah Deniz compression project represents the next phase in delivering safe and efficient gas solutions.”

Over 95% of SOCAR-KBR’s Baku-based team comprises Azerbaijani engineers, designers, and professionals. The local office will lead project delivery, supported by KBR’s global expertise.
