thyssenkrupp Uhde has secured pre-FEED contracts from Fuella AS for the development of two large-scale green ammonia projects at the Port of Pecém and the Port of Açu in Brazil.
The PeGA and AçuGA projects are each planned to produce 400,000 tonnes per annum of green ammonia using renewable energy sources. During the pre-FEED phase, thyssenkrupp Uhde will focus on advancing engineering activities, optimizing the technical concept, and strengthening the overall business case for both facilities.
The studies will utilize thyssenkrupp Uhde’s proprietary uhde® ammonia synthesis technology, specifically developed for renewable-powered ammonia production. In addition to the ammonia plants, the company will provide integration engineering for electrolysis systems, balance of plant, and ammonia export infrastructure, supporting Fuella’s vision of establishing world-class green ammonia hubs in Brazil.
Nadja Håkansson, CEO of thyssenkrupp Uhde, highlighted the partnership as a significant step toward accelerating the global energy transition, while Fuella Managing Director Dr. Thorsten Helms emphasized thyssenkrupp Uhde’s technical expertise, local market knowledge, and collaborative approach as key factors in the award.
