JGC Holdings Corporation announced that its group company, JGC France S.A.S., together with Technip Energies France S.A.S. and Samsung Heavy Industries Co., Ltd. of South Korea, has secured a contract to deliver engineering, procurement, construction, installation and commissioning (EPCIC) services for the Coral North Floating Liquefied Natural Gas (FLNG) project offshore Mozambique. The project is being developed by Eni and its partners CNPC, ENH, XRG and KOGAS.

The contract was awarded by Mozambique Rovuma Venture S.p.A. (MRV) on behalf of the Area 4 Partners.

The Coral North Project includes the construction of a new FLNG facility with a production capacity of approximately 3.6 million tonnes per annum. The facility will be deployed in the Coral gas field, located around 50 kilometers off the northern coast of Mozambique.

Under the agreement, JGC France and Technip Energies, through their joint venture, will lead the engineering and procurement of the FLNG topside facilities and oversee overall project management. Samsung Heavy Industries will be responsible for the engineering, procurement and construction of the FLNG hull, along with the fabrication of the topside modules.

The contract is valued at less than USD 5 billion, with JGC Group’s share exceeding USD 1 billion. Structured as a lump-sum turnkey contract, the project is expected to commence LNG production in 2028.

Coral North will be Mozambique’s second FLNG development, following the successful Coral South Project. For Coral South, JGC Group, Technip Group and Samsung Heavy Industries jointly executed the EPCIC scope, delivering first LNG in 2022. The project continues to operate with strong performance, reinforcing the consortium’s proven expertise and long-standing partnership with the Area 4 Partners.

JGC Group has established itself as a key player in the global FLNG market, having contributed to several FLNG developments worldwide, including projects for PETRONAS in Malaysia.

Alongside its offshore LNG activities, JGC Group is involved in major onshore LNG developments, including the Ruwais LNG project in the United Arab Emirates, as well as FEED assignments for projects in Canada, Mozambique and Indonesia.

Through the delivery of LNG infrastructure designed to reduce environmental impact, JGC Group continues to support the global energy transition while advancing its corporate purpose of “Enhancing Planetary Health.”
