SLB announced that its OneSubsea™ joint venture has secured a contract from Eni North Ganal Limited (a subsidiary of Searah Limited, a joint venture between Eni and PETRONAS) to deliver a steel tube umbilical system for the Kutei North Hub field development project offshore East Kalimantan, Indonesia.

Supporting one of Southeast Asia’s most significant deepwater developments, SLB OneSubsea will engineer, procure, and manufacture 94.6 km of steel tube umbilical for water depths of up to 2,200 meters. With a total system weight of approximately 6,700 tons, the award ranks among the largest umbilical contracts in the offshore energy industry.

The project will leverage SLB OneSubsea’s advanced manufacturing capabilities, combining its Oscilay™ and planetary production lines. This parallel manufacturing approach enhances production efficiency and significantly reduces delivery schedules compared with conventional single-line manufacturing methods.

“Operators are looking for partners who can help them move projects forward with confidence,” said Mads Hjelmeland, Chief Executive Officer of SLB OneSubsea. “This award demonstrates how we combine technical expertise with innovative manufacturing capabilities to support efficient project execution and accelerated delivery, while maintaining the reliability and performance required for demanding deepwater developments.”

The umbilical system is engineered to operate at a design pressure of 10,000 psi. The project also includes the production of a single continuous 30 km umbilical weighing approximately 2,100 tons, requiring specialized large-scale carousel capacity for manufacturing and storage.

This contract further reinforces SLB OneSubsea’s position as a leading provider of subsea production systems and advanced deepwater technologies, supporting the execution of complex offshore developments across the Asia-Pacific region.
