Aker Solutions has secured a front-end engineering and design (FEED) contract from Equinor for the Atlantis subsea tie-in project, aimed at enabling production through the Kvitebjørn platform.

Located in the northern North Sea, around 35 km southeast of the Gullfaks field, Atlantis is a gas condensate discovery expected to include three production wells with a pressure depletion recovery approach.

Under the contract, Aker Solutions will upgrade and adapt the Kvitebjørn platform’s topside facilities to handle production from Atlantis by utilizing existing infrastructure. The agreement also includes an option for engineering, procurement, construction, installation, and commissioning assistance (EPCIc).

Paal Eikeseth, Executive Vice President and Head of Life Cycle at Aker Solutions, said the project will focus on simplifying execution, reducing complexity, and improving cost efficiency through digitalization and AI-driven productivity enhancements.

Earlier in January 2026, Aker Solutions also signed a new maintenance and modifications frame agreement with Equinor, expanding its responsibilities at the Kvitebjørn field and creating potential operational synergies for the Atlantis development.

According to Eikeseth, Atlantis is among the many upcoming subsea tie-back developments planned across the Norwegian Continental Shelf, which are expected to contribute to Europe’s long-term energy security.

The project will involve multiple Aker Solutions offices, with project management and detailed engineering led from Bergen and supported by teams in Mumbai. FEED activities will begin immediately, while the EPCIc option is anticipated to be exercised in early 2027.
