L&T Construction Awarded contracts for its Water & Effluent Treatment Business

The international arm of the Water & Effluent Treatment Business has been awarded a project from a prestigious client to construct and commission water supply schemes for various towns in Tanzania.

The aggregate scope of work comprises design & construction of raw water intake systems, storage tanks, water treatment plants of a total capacity of 71 MLD, 5 clear water reservoirs, pumping stations, 263 km of pipeline and associated electromechanical works.

The project is being funded by the EXIM Bank of India.

In addition, the Business has also secured add-on domestic orders from the Uttar Pradesh State Water & Sanitation Mission to implement various rural water supply projects under the Jal Jeevan Mission to provide Functional House Tap Connections (FHTC) in the state.

L&T Construction awarded contracts for its Water & Effluent Treatment Business

The Water & Effluent Treatment Business of L&T Construction has secured various contracts.

The Gujarat Water Infrastructure Limited (GWIL) has placed engineering, procurement and construction orders for the design and construction of the Dhanki-Navda Bulk Pipeline project that aims to enhance water supply capacity to meet the future demands of Amreli, Junagadh, Botad and Rajkot districts of Gujarat. The scope includes design & construction of 99 Kms bulk transmission MS pipeline, 10.5 ML RCC raw water sump & pumphouse and associated electro-mechanical & instrumentation works.

The Business is also executing another bulk pipeline project at the same location for GWIL.

Further, the international arm of the Business has been awarded a project from a prestigious client for the Supply, Installation, Testing, and Commissioning of water distribution network and large meter connections in Dubai. The scope includes water distribution networks of 137 Km GRE Pipelines, micro tunnelling works, SCADA and associated Civil, Mechanical and Electrical Works.

L&T Construction Awarded contracts for its Various Business

The Railways SBU of L&T Construction’s Transportation Infrastructure IC has secured an Engineering, Procurement & Construction (EPC) order from IRCON International LTD involving 25 kV Overhead Electrification, Signaling & Telecommunication, and associated works for 549 RKM/678 TKM railway lines pertaining to the Northeast Frontier Railway.

The project is part of the Central Government’s ‘Mission Electrification’ initiative aimed to electrify the entire Indian Railway network to reduce carbon footprint as well as expenditure on diesel.

The business is already executing four major EPC contracts from Central Organization for Railway Electrification (CORE) viz., EPC-01 (Delhi – Jaipur line), EPC-07 (Various sections of the Southern Railway), EPC-06 (Various sections of the North-Western Railway) and EPC-15A (Various sections of the Northeast Frontier Railway).

IRCON International LTD. is one of the implementing agencies responsible for carrying out the Railway Electrification works over the selected networks of Indian Railways.

Buildings & Factories:

The Factories Business of Buildings and Factories IC has secured a prestigious order from a global FMCG manufacturer for Design & Construction of a food processing facility in Gujarat, India. The scope involves Civil, Structural, Architectural and MEP Utility works including External Development Works.

The business has also secured an order from a prestigious client to expand a super specialty hospital in Kolkata by 250 beds on Design & Build basis. The built-up area of the project will be 2.61 Lakh Sq Ft. with a configuration of basement + ground + 10 floors structure including LINAC & PET CT facility. The project is located at a prime location. The logistics are challenging while the execution will have both offsite and onsite construction activities.

The scope of work involves Civil Structure using structural composite deck slab system with CFT columns, finishes & allied MEP services including medical gas piping, nurse call system, pneumatic tube system with external development and landscaping within site premises.

L&T wins Offshore Contract from ONGC

 L&T Hydrocarbon Engineering Limited (LTHE), a wholly owned subsidiary of Larsen & Toubro, has secured a Contract from Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) for the seventh development phase of their Pipeline Replacement Projects (PRP-VII). 

The EPCIC contract involves Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Installation and Commissioning of ~ 350 kms subsea pipelines and related offshore works spread out across India’s west coast offshore fields of ONGC.

L&T Construction Awarded contract for its Heavy Civil Infrastructure Business

The construction arm of Larsen & Toubro has secured an order from the esteemed National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL), to design and construct Package No. – MAHSR-C-5 of the Mumbai Ahmedabad High Speed Rail Project, the first High Speed Rail corridor being implemented in the country.

The major scope of work for the project comprises design & construction of Civil and Building works for a double line high speed railway of a length of 8.198 Km (Chainage 373.700 to Chainage 401.898). The scope also includes the major station of Vadodara, Confirmation Car Base, Viaduct and Bridges, Crossing Bridges, Architectural, MEP and other associated works.

The project alignment passes through Vadodara, Gujarat and the project is scheduled to be completed within 49 months.

L&T is already executing two other packages (MAHSR – C-4 and MAHSR C-6) of the high-speed corridor and takes pride in being associated with this prestigious project.

L&T Construction Awarded contracts for its Water & Effluent Treatment Business

The Water & Effluent Treatment Business of L&T construction has secured a slew of orders from various prestigious clients.

The Department of Water Supply and Sanitation, Punjab has awarded two EPC orders for the Bulk Supply of Treated Water to 10 lakh people across 412 villages and 15 dhanies in the Fazilka and Ferozepur districts of Punjab on a DBOT (Design Build Operate Transfer) basis.

The aggregate scope of work comprises Design & Construction of raw water intake systems, storage & sedimentation tanks, water treatment plants of a total capacity of 114 MLD, clear water reservoirs with pumphouse, supply & laying of transmission pipelines, and associated Electromechanical & Instrumentation works.  The project also involves automation works that include measurement of inflow & outflow water quantity and quality through suitable SCADA & other instrumentation works.

Previously, the business commissioned the Moga Water Supply Project for the same client.

The Department of Water Resources, Government of Odisha has given a repeat EPC order to execute the Under Ground Pipeline Irrigation System for the Rengali Right Irrigation Project (Phase-I).

Under the project, water for irrigation to 24,063 Ha. of Culturable Command Area (CCA) and 26,334 Ha. of Command Area Development (CAD) is envisaged for the Dhenkanal and Cuttack districts of Odisha by way of gravity flow taken from the Rengali Right Bank Canal and its distributaries. The scope includes survey, design, procurement, construction and installing of DI, HDPE & PSC pipelines of various diameters and pipeline distribution networks with all allied works.

In addition to these, the Business has also secured add-on orders from the Uttar Pradesh State Water & Sanitation Mission to implement various rural water supply projects under the Jal Jeevan Mission to provide Functional House Tap Connection (FHTC) in the state.

The Business is already executing water supply schemes in the districts of Mahoba, Banda, Chitrakhoot, Gonda, Varanasi, Sonbhadra, Balrampur and Shravasti for the same client.

The construction arm of Larsen & Toubro has secured a significant order for its Buildings & Factories business from a reputed developer.

The residential business of Buildings and Factories has secured this order to construct one of the largest residential townships in Bengaluru. The project involves construction of 6,768 apartments spread across 39 Towers with 2 Basements + Ground + 27 to 31 Floors. Additionally, the development entails 149 villas along with club houses, swimming pools and other amenity structures. The total built up area will be 13.43 million sq.ft. The project is scheduled to be completed in 42 months. 

The scope of works includes Design & Construction of entire civil structure including waterproofing, masonry, plastering and electrical conduiting.

The Water & Effluent Treatment Business of L&T Construction has secured a repeat order from the State Water & Sanitation Mission (SWSM), Uttar Pradesh to implement rural water supply projects providing Functional House Tap Connections (FHTC) under the Jal Jeevan Mission. 

The business has been entrusted to implement rural water supply projects catering to the potable water requirement of 1900 villages in the Prayagraj Revenue Division of Prayagraj district. The scope comprises construction of Tube Wells, Pump Houses cum Chlorination Rooms, Overhead Tanks, Treatment Systems, Solar Plants, Rising Main & Distribution Pipeline Network, Staff Quarters, Individual House Connections, etc. including allied Electromechanical & Automation works. 

The business is already executing water supply schemes in the districts of Mahoba, Banda, Chitrakhoot, Gonda, Varanasi, Lucknow and Sonbhadra for the SWSM. 

Further, the Smart Water Infrastructure segment of the Water & Effluent Treatment Business has been awarded a contract for an integrated infrastructure project at Silvassa in the Union Territory of Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu by the Silvassa Smart City Limited. 

The scope of work includes constructing 68 Km of smart roads along with storm water drains, cross drainage structures, 24×7 water supply system, sewerage collection network, and street lighting. 

This project is a part of the Government of India’s flagship ‘Smart Cities Mission’. With this order, the Smart Water Infrastructure Business has reinforced its credentials in building smart cities and driving the development of smart infrastructure across the country.

The construction arm of L&T has secured orders for its businesses in India.

Metallurgical & Material Handling: The Metallurgical & Material Handling (MMH) business has been awarded an Engineering, Procurement & Construction (EPC) order for 12 MTPA Dry Circuit Systems on a turnkey basis for a Screening Plant (SP-III) from NMDC Limited at their Kirandul Complex, Chhattisgarh.

The scope of work includes Tertiary Crushing, 2-stage Screening, Stacking, Reclaiming and Dispatch of Iron ore along with the associated Civil, Structural, E&I and other auxiliary facilities.

This plant will be one of the largest Iron Ore Handling plants and aims to ensure uninterrupted Iron Ore supply for different customers of NMDC.

The MMH business has also secured new orders for its Products Business in the mining sector and add on orders from its existing customers.

These orders signify MMH’s leadership position and its continued efforts to build customer confidence in this sector.

Buildings & Factories: The Buildings & Factories (B&F) business has secured a prestigious order from DRDO to construct their Flight Control System Facility at ADE, Bengaluru.

The project involves construction of a 1.2 Lakh sq. ft facility consisting of Ground + 6 Floors in an extremely fast track timeline of 4 months.

The project will demonstrate L&T’s technological expertise in Modular Offsite Construction with Composite Truss Beam technology that will be used for the Structure. 90% of the building components will be manufactured offsite except for the foundations. The structure will have Composite Structural Steel and the building enveloped with a façade. The interiors comprise 100 mm false flooring and modular wall partitions with false ceilings. The toilets will also be constructed offsite as Fully Finished Toilet PODS (Portable on Demand Storage).

L&T Construction Awarded Contract for its Buildings & Factories Business

The construction arm of L&T has secured a large order for its Buildings & Factories business from Central Public Works Department (CPWD) to construct Common Central Secretariat Integrated Buildings 1, 2 and 3 in Plot 137, New Delhi with a built-up area of approx. 48.11 Lakh Sq.ft. including its Operation & Maintenance. 

These buildings will have a ground floor, upper ground floor plus six storeys with two basements. 

This project involves the construction of cabins, cubicles and open work halls for Secretaries, Additional / Joint Secretaries along with their Private Secretaries, Deputy Secretaries / Directors, Under Secretaries, Section Officers and Assistant Secretaries. The scope of work also involves Demolition, Civil Works, Finishes, External Development, Furniture, related MEP works and Operation & Maintenance for 5 years.

The project is scheduled to be completed in 24 months.

L&T Hydrocarbon Engineering Wins Significant Order from Petronet LNG

L&T Hydrocarbon Engineering (LTHE), a wholly owned subsidiary of Larsen & Toubro, has won a significant order from Petronet LNG (PLL), a joint venture company promoted by four leading PSUs viz., Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), Indian Oil Corporation (IOCL), GAIL (India) and Bharat Petroleum Corporation (BPCL).

The contract is for Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Commissioning of two LNG Storage Tanks with a capacity of 170,000 m3 each for Phase IIIB of the Dahej Expansion Project at Dahej, Gujarat. The Project has been awarded through an international competitive bidding on Lumpsum Turnkey (LSTK) basis. The award demonstrates PLL’s trust on LTHE’s capability to deliver the project within a challenging schedule while ensuring excellent safety and quality performance.

LTHE is committed to being an active EPC player in achieving Government of India’s target of increasing the share of natural gas in the primary energy mix from the current 6% to 15% by 2030. LTHE is also executing LNG tanks for Dhamra LNG Terminal in Orissa.

L&T bags order for Titanium Clad Oxidation Reactor from Technip Energies

The Heavy Engineering arm of Larsen & Toubro has won an order for Oxidation Reactor from Technip Energies-India against stiff global competition. This order for the technologically critical Titanium Clad Reactor is for a Public Sector Petrochemical project for Purified Terephthalic Acid plant. The scope of supply involves Design, Material Procurement, fabrication, inspection and testing of Reactor meeting the Licensors stringent quality requirements.

Power Transmission & Distribution: The Power Transmission & Distribution Business has won an order to construct a 220kV Transmission Line associated with system strengthening in the Ladakh region. The design and execution of this system involves traversing avalanche prone, hilly terrains and ice loading of conductors. Another turnkey order has been received for urban power distribution in Ayodhya city under the Integrated Power Development Scheme. In Dubai city, an order to design, supply, construct, install, test, and commission a 132/11kV substation with associated cable works has been received. Additionally, two transmission line packages have been secured in Africa. A package involving supply and construction of a new Gas Insulated Substation and associated substation extensions has been won in Thailand. These works will enhance the transmission system security and support the rising demand for electricity in the upper northern parts of the country.

Buildings & Factories: The Factories business has secured a prestigious order from a leading cement manufacturer in India to construct a 1.8 MTPA Grinding Unit in Dolvi, Maharashtra. The scope involves Civil, Mechanical and Equipment Installation works.

L&T Construction Awarded Contract to Design and Build one of the world’s largest Oil & Gas Supply Bases

The Buildings & Factories business of Larsen & Toubro Construction has secured a Significant contract from Oilfields Supply Company Saudi owned by the Dubai based Oilfields Supply Center Ltd. to design and build one of the World’s largest Oil & Gas Supply Bases at King Salman Energy Park, Dammam, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The project involves constructing industrial facilities of different sizes, an administration building, ancillary buildings, associated infrastructure and storage yards along with Civil, Structural, MEP and Architectural works. The project is scheduled to be completed in 30 months.

L&T Construction Secures Green EPC Order to establish one of the World’s Largest Solar PV Plants by Capacity

The Renewables arm of Larsen & Toubro’s Power Transmission & Distribution Business has secured a turnkey EPC Contract, from the consortium of ACWA Power and the Water and Electricity Holding Company (a subsidiary of the Public Investments Fund of Saudi Arabia (PIF)), for Sudair Solar PV Project of 1.5GW capacity. This project is considered the largest Solar Plant in Saudi Arabia with PPA signed. It is also one of the largest such plants in the world.

The project that is coming up in Riyadh Province has a 30.8 square kilometre land parcel available to install a total capacity of 1.5GW PV Solar modules with associated single axial tracker and inverters. The ambitions of Saudi Arabia’s National Renewable Energy Program (NREP) are on track. As part of the NREP, Sudair Solar PV Project is awarded to PIF and its partner, ACWA Power.

This project is part of the 70% of the target capacity of 58.7 GW of the Kingdom assigned to Public Investment Fund (PIF), while Renewable Energy Project Development Office (REPDO) would undertake competitive tendering for the remaining 30%, as announced by the Ministry of Energy in 2019. “With several GWs of solar EPC experience, L&T has emerged as a global technology player for solar plants, said Mr. S. N. Subrahmanyan, CEO & Managing Director, Larsen & Toubro. “L&T has been a provider of EPC services for several green projects in recent years. L&T Construction Wins Orders for its Power Transmission & Distribution Business

The Power Transmission & Distribution (PT&D) Business of Larsen &
Toubro has won a slew of orders across its spectrum of offerings.
As traditional power generation companies rapidly enhance renewable capacities in their portfolios, PT&D has secured two EPC orders to establish more than 400 MW Solar Photovoltaic projects in the state of Gujarat. The scope of these packages involve Design, Engineering, Supply, Construction,
Testing, Commissioning and Operation & Maintenance of Grid Connected Solar PV Plants of about 200 MW each. L&T is one of the leading EPC players globally in the Renewables space with a track record
of having built some of the largest solar plants.
A 765kV Double Circuit Transmission Line package has been received through a project specific transmission company. This line is associated with the transmission scheme for evacuation of power from solar energy zones in Rajasthan.
In West Bengal, orders have been received to supply and install High Voltage Distribution Systems in certain districts on a turnkey mode. This grid modernization programme in semi-urban and rural areas
is being implemented by the State with multilateral assistance. Another order to construct 220kV and 132kV Transmission Lines has been won from the state transmission utility.
The business has won a 400 kV Substation order in Tamil Nadu. The scope of the package involves establishing a complete substation including associated transformers, reactors, switchgear, control & protection, substation automation systems, etc. This project is aimed to meet the future load growth of the Coimbatore region and to strengthen the evacuation system of an upcoming pumped storage power plant.
In Qatar, the business has won an order to install line connected current limiting reactors for the first time in the country’s network. As the electricity network expands, this 400 kV equipment will help improve grid stability and enable use of existing switchgear without major replacements.

The construction arm of L&T has secured a significant order in the Nuclear sector from Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL) for its Heavy Civil Infrastructure business in India to construct the Main Plant Civil Works of the Kudankulam 5&6 units (KKNPP 5&6 – 2X1000 MWe) The Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant is India’s first Light Water Reactor (LWR) of 6 units with a generation capacity of 1000 MWe each. The scope of work includes construction of the Reactor Building, Reactor Auxiliary Building, Turbine Building, Diesel Generator Building and other Safety Related Structures in a duration of 64 Months. L&T is currently executing similar works of Kudankulam 3&4 units (KKNPP 3&4) in the same premises.

L&T Construction awarded Contracts for its transportation Infrastructure Business

The Transportation Infrastructure business of L&T Construction
has secured an order to extend the mainline corridor of the Mauritius Metro by 3.4 km from Metro Express Limited (MEL), Mauritius.
The project involves the construction of a fully integrated light rail based Urban Transit System from Rose Hill Interchange towards Ebene reaching Reduit near the University of Mauritius. This extension will connect the densely populated areas of Ebene Cybercity and the University of
Mauritius and give added impetus to the development of the island nation.
The extension will involve the construction of three new stations, viaducts & bridges, track works (with substantial ballastless track including plinth, embedded & grass tracks), DC electric Traction Systems, Ticketing & Passenger Information Systems and integration with road traffic
through advanced signaling systems.

L&T is already executing the 26 km Mainline LRT network connecting Curepipe to Immigration Square in Port Louis.
L&T has successfully completed the 12 km priority section from Rosehill to Victoria station, and this is under commercial operation since January 2020.
The Railways Strategic Business Group of Transportation Infrastructure business has also secured an order from Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Limited (UPMRCL).
Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Limited (UPMRCL) is the nodal agency responsible for the implementation of the Kanpur and Agra Metro projects that are being funded through equity participation by the Government of India and Government of Uttar Pradesh and loans from
bilateral/multilateral agencies.
The scope of works includes Design, Installation, Testing & Commissioning of Ballastless Track of Standard Gauge in 4 Corridors in Elevated as well as Underground sections of Kanpur and Agra Metro Projects along with supply of fastening systems and associated Ballasted/Ballastless Tracks in 4 Depots. This order has been secured against stiff competition from various local

The Commercial and Residential Spaces arm of the Buildings & Factories business has won an order from a reputed developer to construct an office space in Mumbai. The scope of the project includes construction of 2 towers comprising 4 basements, G+21 Floors with a built-up area of 33.50 lakh Sq. Ft.
The Commercial and Residential Spaces arm of Buildings & Factories business has also won an order from the State Government of Haryana to construct a Medical College at Jind. The scope of the project includes construction of a hospital building, academy blocks and residential buildings over a built-up area of 15.63 lakh Sq. Ft.
Transportation Infrastructure Business:
The Railways Strategic Business Unit has secured an Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) order from the Central Organisation for Railway Electrification (CORE),
Package EPC-06 to electrify 918.40 RKM/1171.31 Track KM of railway lines in the North Western Railway.
The project is a part of the ‘Mission Electrification’ initiative of the Central Government aimed to electrify the entire Indian Railway Network to reduce carbon footprint and expenditure on diesel.
The business is already executing two major EPC contracts from CORE: EPC-01 (Gr. 182,184 & 185) to electrify the Delhi- Jaipur line and EPC-07 to electrify various sections of the Southern Railway.

L&T Hydrocarbon Engineering (LTHE), a wholly owned subsidiary of Larsen & Toubro, has secured a Contract from Oil & Natural Gas orporation
(ONGC) for their new Living Quarter (LQ) & Revamp at ‘NQ Complex’ (NLRNC-RT2) Project.
The EPCIC contract involves Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Installation and Commissioning of a new living quarter platform, ‘NQL Platform’ of 120 men capacity, bridge (with intermediate support) to existing ‘NQO Complex’ and major revamping / replacement of existing process systems / facilities at ‘NQ Complex’ in ONGC’s Mumbai High Asset on the West Coast of India.
The above contract has been awarded through international competitive bidding on a Lump Sum Turnkey (LSTK) basis.

L&T Hydrocarbon wins EPCC Contract for Petrochemical Fluidized Catalytic Cracking Unit from HRRL

L&T Hydrocarbon Engineering (LTHE), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Larsen & Toubro, has won an order from HPCL Rajasthan Refinery Limited (HRRL), a joint venture between Hindustan Petroleum Corporation (HPCL) and Government of Rajasthan.
The engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning (EPCC) contract is for setting up a Petrochemical Fluidized Catalytic Cracking (PFCC) including Propylene Recovery Unit, EPCC-03 Package (capacity: 2.9 MMTPA), for Rajasthan Refinery Project at Barmer, Rajasthan. The unit is licensed by TechnipFMC.
The PFCC will convert the heavy hydrocarbons from the Vacuum Distillation Unit to produce more valuable gasoline, diesel, propylene and lighter products by the process of catalytic cracking.

L&T’s Power Transmission & Distribution business has won two Transmission Line packages in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia involving Design, Procurement and Construction of 380kV Double Circuit Overhead Transmission Line Corridors for a length of more than 650 KM. These lines are expected to strengthen the grid in the Eastern Region of Saudi Arabia and facilitate power evacuation.

Water & Treatment Business:

The Water & Effluent Treatment business has secured an EPC order in the state of Gujarat to execute a package in the SAUNI Yojna Link 3. Saurashtra Narmada Avtaran Irrigation (SAUNI) is a project launched by the Government to fill various reservoirs by diverting floodwaters overflowing from the Sardar Sarovar Dam across the Narmada river to drought areas in Gujarat. The project involves survey, design, procurement, laying and jointing of 2500 mm diameter MS pipeline. L&T has already completed 4 packages in the Sauni Yojana for the same client.

The business has also secured a Design & Build order from a reputed Client to construct a Multispecialty hospital at Nagpur. To be executed on a fast track basis, the scope of the project includes Structure, Finishes, MEP, and Medical Gas Pipeline system to be done entirely in structural steel, including the core.
The IT& office space business has received an order from a reputed client for the civil shell & core works of a Mixed Used Building at Bengaluru. The scope of work includes a tower of 9.06 lakh Sqft to be completed in a period of 18 months.

Power Transmission & Distribution Business:
L&T Construction’s Power Transmission & Distribution Business continued its winning spree by securing another package to provide Electrical & Mechanical Systems for tunnels in the Udhampur Srinagar Baramulla rail link project. The scope of the package involves 33kV & 11kV HT power cable network, GIS substation, DG sets, tunnel lighting, ventilation & firefighting
systems and SCADA system.
Another underground cabling package has been secured to improve the reliability of power supply in a South Indian city.

L&T Construction Awarded (*Large) Contract to Build India’s Longest River Bridge

Bridge to connect states of Assam and Meghalaya across River Brahmaputra

L&T Construction, the construction arm of L&T, has secured a Large contract to construct India’s longest road bridge across river Brahmaputra connecting Dhubri in Assam to Phulbari in Meghalaya.

The 19 km long bridge will be built along National Highway 127-B and will feature a Navigation Bridge of 12.625 km, approach viaducts of 3.5 km on the Dhubri side and 2.2 km on the Phulbari side, connected with approach roads and interchanges on both sides.

The bridge will have huge strategic relevance by improving the connectivity of the North Eastern States with the rest of the country and establish a vital link between Assam and Meghalaya by reducing the distance between the two States by 250 km. Currently the travel between Dhubri and Phulbari is by ferry that takes up to 2.5 hrs.

“This is an extremely challenging project, and we thank our client, National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd. for reposing confidence in our capability to build a such a defining piece of infrastructure,” said Mr S V Desai, Whole Time Director & Senior Executive Vice President (Civil Infrastructure), L&T. L&T awarded biggest order ever for its Construction and Mining Equipment Businesses

The Construction and Mining Equipment business of Larsen & Toubro, India’s leading engineering, procurement and construction projects, manufacturing, defence and services conglomerate, has secured one of its biggest orders ever to supply 46 units of Komatsu Mining Equipment from Tata Steel.

The order comprises of 41 units of Komatsu HD785-7 (100 Ton Dump Truck), three units of Komatsu WA900-3E0 (9 Cum Wheel Loader) and two units of Komatsu D275A-5R (410HP Crawler Dozer). The scope includes supply of equipment and full maintenance contract for 60,000 hours of equipment operation.

Water & Effluent Treatment Business:

The Water & Effluent Treatment business has secured an order from Punjab Water Supply & Sewerage Board, for providing 24×7 surface-based water supply to Patiala town. The project is part of the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) scheme. The scope of the project includes design & construction of a water treatment plant of capacity 115 MLD, clear water reservoir, underground storage reservoir & pumping station, overhead storage reservoirs (OHSRs), raw & clear water pipelines, metered consumer connections, associated electromechanical & instrumentation, control & automation including measurement of input & output water quantity and quality through SCADA & other instrumentation works. The project is designed to cater safe & potable drinking water to Patiala benefitting 6.6 lakh population. This is the second order from the same customer during the year and the order adds another feather to the Water Management portfolio of the Business. Another order has been secured from Gujarat Water Infrastructure Limited for design, construction, and operation of Navda to Chavand bulk water transmission pipeline project in Gujarat. The scope of work comprises of construction of RCC sumps, pumphouses, supply and laying of MS Pipeline along with associated mechanical, electrical & instrumentation works. The project aims to supply additional 280 MLD of bulk water to mitigate the future demand of Amreli, Junagadh, Botad and Rajkot districts of Gujarat. A repeat order from Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board has been secured by the business for the construction of ground level reservoirs with associated mechanical, electrical & instrumentation works, along western route (CP 13) of Bengaluru, Karnataka. The project funded by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) is part of phase 3 of Bengaluru water supply & sewerage project.

Transportation Infrastructure Business:

Railways Strategic Business of Transportation Infrastructure has won order from National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC). The order involves manufacturing, supplying, installation and testing & commissioning of Pre-Cast ballastless Slab Track system along with associated works for Delhi – Meerut section (82 Kms) as part of Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) network of NCRTC. This shall be India’s first of its kind pre-Cast ballastless slab track project. It shall be constructed using specialized technology to be provided by M/s PORR (Austria). The track shall be constructed for a design speed of 180 KMPH. The project is to be completed in a period of 42 Months

Total seating capacity of both the projects combined will be 14,600. The scope of works includes civil / structure works, MEP, façade works, common area finishes and external development works.

As a part of the sustainable and green design initiatives, the project will be a Gold LEED certified building upon completion.

Water & Effluent Treatment Business:

The Water & Effluent Treatment Business of L&T Construction has secured an order from Punjab Water Supply & Sewerage Board, Punjab, to provide surface-based bulk drinking water supply to Jalandhar town on design, build, operate and transfer basis. The project is part of the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) scheme. The aggregate scope of the project includes design and construction of a raw water storage and sedimentation tank, raw water settling tank cum pumphouse, water treatment plant of capacity 275 MLD, clear water reservoir, underground storage reservoirs and pumping stations, raw and clear water transmission pipelines, associated electromechanical and instrumentation, control and automation works. The project involves automation including measuring input and output water quantity and quality through suitable SCADA and other instrumentation works. The project is designed to cater safe and potable bulk drinking water to Jalandhar benefitting 13.8 lakh population and will help convert existing ground-based water supply system in the town to a surface-based system. L&T GeoStructure: L&T GeoStructure has been awarded projects to construct Down and Up Lines (Package 1 & 2) of a bypass grade separator in Katni district, Madhya Pradesh. The scope involves constructing about 2800 piles, pile caps, piers, pier caps, superstructure, embankment with retaining walls, etc. The project duration is 36 months.

L&T’s construction arm wins contract for Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor project

Railways Strategic Business Unit of L&T Construction’s Transportation Infrastructure IC in consortium with M/s Kyosan Electric Manufacturing Co. Ltd., Japan has won a significant order in the form of 3 packages from the Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Limited (DFCCIL). The Design and Build orders involve 2×25 KV Overhead Electrification, Signalling & Telecommunication and Associated works in the Dadri – Khurja and Sahnewal – Khurja sections of the Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor (EDFC). The works are spread across 442 Route Kms and 638 Track Kms.

L&T Construction is already executing the Electrification and Signalling System works contracts for the Mughalsarai to New Sonnagar section and Electrification works of the Mughalsarai – Bhaupur Section of the EDFC.

With this win, L&T will be electrifying 1000 out of 1346 Kms of the EDFC where orders have been finalized, and the entire 1465 Kms of the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor from Dadri to JNPT. DFCCIL is a special purpose vehicle of the Indian Railways, mandated to build dedicated freight corridors.

L&T Construction Secures Big Contract from Rail Vikas Nigam for Railway Tunnels, Bridges

The company has been awarded the contract for construction of the main tunnel, with a parallel escape tunnel and ballast-less track that runs inside the main tunnel, of Rishikesh-Karanprayag Tunnel 2, which is located in the Garhwal Himalayan Range and a part of the flagship Golden Quadrilateral railway project.

Infrastructure major Larsen & Toubro’s Maharashtra order book may be at risk as the state government reviews big-ticket infrastructure projects, but the company has recently bagged several significant awards in India and abroad. The heavy civil construction arm of the company, L&T Construction, on Thursday, said it has bagged an order of around Rs 1,000-2,500 crore from Rail Vikas Nigam (RVNL) for construction of tunnels, bridges and formation works in Uttarakhand.

The company has been awarded the contract for construction of the main tunnel, with a parallel escape tunnel and ballast-less track that runs inside the main tunnel, of Rishikesh-Karanprayag Tunnel 2, which is located in the Garhwal Himalayan Range and a part of the flagship Golden Quadrilateral railway project. The tunnel consists of a significant portion of the Rishikesh-Karanprayag project, which has a total length of 125.2 kilometers.

It also won significant contracts (project value between Rs 1,000 crore and Rs 2,500 crore) in power and distribution in the Middle East, including a design, supply and construction order in the United Arab Emirates.

According to analysts, over 9% of L&T’s total order book of infrastructure projects is in Maharashtra. Analysts estimated a potential hit of Rs 19,020 crore on the company as a result of Maharashtra government’s recent decision to review large infrastructure projects.
