Maersk Drilling awarded three-well contract by Petrogas

Maersk Drilling has secured a contract from Petrogas E&P Netherlands B.V. for the harsh environment jack-up rig Maersk Resilient to drill three wells at the B13 and A12 fields in the Dutch sector of the North Sea. The contract is expected to commence in November 2020 and has an estimated duration of 110 days. The firm contract value is approximately USD 9.4m.

The parties have further agreed that Maersk Drilling will be given exclusive options to work on a selected number of Petrogas’ planned projects in the Dutch sector in 2021 and 2022.

“The three-well contract and the exclusivity agreement are yet another testament to our strong relationship with Petrogas. We are very pleased to be given the opportunity to continue our great collaboration and leverage the design of our R-class rig capabilities to support Petrogas’ business in one of their core markets in the Netherlands,” says Claus Bachmann, Head of North Sea Division in Maersk Drilling.

Separately, the previously announced contract with Petrogas North Sea Ltd for the drilling of one well at the Birgitta field in the UK sector of the North Sea will be cancelled and Maersk Drilling will receive compensation via a termination fee. Maersk Drilling retains an exclusive option with Petrogas North Sea to drill the Birgitta well in 2021 at rates reflecting the expected 2021 market.

Maersk Resilient is a 350 ft., Gusto-engineered MSC CJ 50 high-efficiency jack-up rig which was delivered in 2008. It is currently mobilising for the campaign for Petrogas in the Netherlands and thereafter Serica Energy UK Ltd.

Maersk Drilling awarded one-well contract for low-emission rig Maersk Integrator under Aker BP alliance

Maersk Drilling has secured an additional one-well contract from Aker BP, acting as operator of the Tambar license, for the low-emission jack-up rig Maersk Integrator. In direct continuation of its current work scope, the rig will move to the Tambar field offshore Norway to drill the K-2B development well, with work expected to commence in February 2021. The contract has an estimated duration of 73 days and a contract value of approximately USD 18.5m, excluding integrated services provided and a potential performance bonus.

Maersk Integrator is contracted under the terms of the frame agreement Maersk Drilling entered into with Aker BP in 2017 as part of the Aker BP Jack-up Alliance which also includes Halliburton. The tripartite alliance uses a shared incentives model, thereby securing mutual commitment to collaborate and drive digital initiatives to reduce waste and deliver value. Contracts under the alliance are based on market-rate terms but add the possibility of an upside for all parties, based on actual delivery and performance.

“We are delighted to confirm that Maersk Integrator will be back in action for Aker BP in early 2021. Our alliance with Aker BP and Halliburton is enabling new ways of working as one team across the value chain, and we have most recently seen the results of this in the safe and highly efficient operation delivered by Maersk Integrator in a complex campaign on the Ula field. This increased efficiency also translates into a reduction of the CO2 emissions associated with drilling, which will be further enhanced by the upgrades currently being performed on Maersk Integrator,” says COO Morten Kelstrup of Maersk Drilling.

Maersk Integrator is an ultra-harsh environment CJ70 XLE jack-up rig, designed for year-round operations in the North Sea. It was delivered in 2015 and is currently performing its scheduled Special Periodic Survey offshore Norway. The rig is further undergoing a series of upgrades to turn it into a hybrid, low-emission rig before expectedly moving to the Ivar Aasen field for Aker BP in August 2020.

Maersk Drilling secures one-well contract offshore Egypt

Maersk Drilling has been awarded a one-well contract for the semi-submersible rig Maersk Discoverer offshore Egypt. The contract has an estimated duration of 21 days and is expected to commence in March 2020, in direct continuation of the rig’s current contract. The contract value is approximately USD 3.8m.

“We’re pleased to add this additional well which firms up Maersk Discoverer’s schedule for 2020, meaning that the rig will have no idle time before moving to the Caribbean later this year,” says COO Morten Kelstrup of Maersk Drilling.

Maersk Discoverer is a DSS-21 column-stabilised dynamically positioned semi-submersible drilling rig which was delivered in 2009. It is currently operating offshore Egypt. Following the completion of the additional Egyptian well, Maersk Discoverer will perform its scheduled Special Periodic Survey, after which the rig will move to Trinidad and Tobago.

Maersk Drilling wins contract extension for low-emissions rig offshore Norway

Maersk Drilling has secured a two-well contract extension from Aker BP for the ultra-harsh environment, low-emission jack-up rig Maersk Integrator. In direct continuation of the rig’s current workscope, Maersk Integrator will move to the Ivar Aasen field offshore Norway to drill two wells, with work expected to commence in October 2020. The extension has an estimated duration of 93 days and a contract value of approximately USD $25.5 million, excluding a potential performance bonus. The contract includes an additional one-well option.

Maersk Drilling Won Three-Well Contract Offshore Trinidad by BP

Maersk Drilling has secured a three-well contract for the Maersk Discoverer semisubmersible with BP for development drilling at the Matapal project offshore Trinidad and Tobago. The contract has an estimated duration of 322 days and is expected to commence in July 2020. The value of the firm contract is approximately $78 million, including a mobilization fee. The contract contains an additional one-well option.

“It is obviously exciting for us to see the Maersk Discoverer go to Trinidad for BP, for whom the rig has performed successful operations offshore Egypt for the last six years, including the shallowest water well ever drilled in dynamic positioning mode for both BP and Maersk Drilling, which delivered significant cost savings to the customer,” Morten Kelstrup, COO of Maersk Drilling, said. “We are very pleased that BP is recognizing Maersk Discoverer’s qualities by re-signing the rig for this new campaign.”

The Maersk Discoverer is a DSS-21 column-stabilized dynamically positioned semisubmersible drilling rig, able to operate in water depths up to 10,000 ft. It is currently operating offshore Egypt.
